Where is the AppStore for Mac OS X – Ad supported OS X on the near future
Taking the AppStore success as a measure and how quickly it was replicated by rivals (RIM, Google, Nokia), We may imply that there’s a strong need for an AppStore for Mac OS X that accelerate the introduction of thousand new ad-based applications to the Mac and help developers profit, it will provide fresh green cash and will take the mac platform to a whole new level.
But…. Will I use an ad-based Mac OS application? Of course, We have been using ad-based applications in the iPhone for years and nobody has been hurt, Apple has a golden egg on its hands and the introduction of iAds plus faster internet connection everywhere, the reality of a Ad-based desktop application is clearer everyday.
I can be implemented the iPhone way, where non-popup screen jumps over the users and try to sell something, it has to be unnoticed and with user permission, ad-based applications should has its System Preferences On and Off switch for users to cut down ads from every application or a Pay-to-Remove Ad that will give something back to the developers if the users opt out.
Apple has a patent application for Advertisement in Operating System created by Steve Jobs, that could see the light of days in the not so far future.
Apple has all the pieces, an advertising agency, the OS and thousand of developers ready to profit from their sharewares and systems utilities. It’s a matter of Apple’s time.
