Is Adobe giving up the iPhone OS completely over Flash? Any hope for Illustrator on the iPad…

ipad video star trek1 Is Adobe giving up the iPhone OS completely over Flash? Any hope for Illustrator on the iPad...

While We all know the ending in the marriage between Flash and the iPhone OS, I would really like to see any creative application on the iPad from Adobe, creative designers will have the best of both worlds, Photoshop and Illustrator fit perfectly in this new mobile platform.

But recent turmoils between Apple and Adobe put pressure to Adobe to shift focus the Android OS and I really hope that this move only affect the Flash development and not the introduction of any creative application for the iPad. Adobe can benefit launching a CS5 Mobile package and designers will have an easy to carry creative and powerful device that will help get the most out of their time while on the go.

Adobe lost a precious time bringing Flash instead of focusing in put the Creative Suite to take advantage of the tablet trend and it’s more than guaranteed that bringing the CS to the iPad will be a hit if priced correctly and if the performance is up to the device itself.

Perhaps a better solution would be to use other developer products. This whole Flash-Apple-Adobe incident has shown how bad things have gotten between the 2 companies. This is the pinnacle of a slow eroding relationship for the last 10 years.

So with that said, I think iPhone users would be better off having another developer(s) provide such design apps. If nothing else, this is a good opportunity for Adobe to revive Freehand which so many in the design community are asking it to release to the general public as opposed to letting it die in a closet.

  2. Adobe has shown (to the world) that it just doesn’t have the chops anymore to develop for Mac or iPhone. When you M&A, offshore and lay off your Mac folks, what do you expect? See:

Sorry, but I don’t feel like typing the same stuff twice. But Adobe basically buried themselves and then tried to bluff Apple to save them.

    -Drunky out.

I have been using Illustrator for over 15 years. I agree that the iPad is perfect for a great vector application; But Illustrator isn’t it. Adobe products are not written in Xcode. They are old, very bloated and poorly supported. They would not run on a light mobile platform. A new well written vector sketch application would be great on the iPad.

Adobe did not give up on an iPhone Flash; Apple finally kicked them in the crotch; and that is a good thing. Adobe is a shit company with a couple of really useful and over priced products. Adobe has been treating Mac users very poorly for many years. Adobe has had years to make Flash and Acrobat into decent applications But they made a lot of bad/greedy choices trying to create an empire rather than good applications.
